Hey Curt, welcome to the forum. What state do you live in and what do you hunt?
Hi all. I recently purchased a 99E (in .308 Win) in good condition from a long-time friend that had belonged to his uncle. From posts on this forum I have determined it to be of 1965 vintage, plain stock, and sans round counter. A question I do have about it under the model designation on the receiver boss is the letter "C". What does this designate?
My only other Savage is a 1st generation Axis (also in .308 Win.) in which I installed a Timney trigger. This is my primary hunting rifle.

Run until your heart bursts
Welcome aboard
Thanks.
I'm from the Pittsburgh area and hunt deer in western PA. As I am recently retired I hope to broaden the species I hunt.
Along with my grandkids we enjoy punching paper and ringing steel at a local club. My lever collection includes a Marlin-Glenfield in 30-30, and a couple Henrys, one in .22 and a Big Boy in .44 mag.
I've been looking for a 99 for a few years after shooting another friend's '56 99F and the 99E was offered to me after deer season ended. I realize it's not the most collected model but it has had good care and shoots well.
