    Question Savage-Frankenstien 10BA into 12VLP stock

Started with a 10BA Stealth in 6.5CM, sold the chassis. got a 12 VLP with a DBM open bottom and a factory Savage DBM out of a accustock for the AICS mags. bolt pattern is 4.4" the issue is the DBM metal is not sitting deep enough in the stock and it appears I can fix ti by just removing one shelf of material. Everything appears to be the same level distance "lower" (when upright) than where it should be and it looks likes it can get corrected by removing the steps "shelves" I highlighted in red taking it down to the green.

Can anyone confirm if I am on the right track? or do I need to do something else

The bottom metal came from a Accufit Accustock 110 Tactical

Here you can see how low the mag sites in the locked position.

The bottom metal is two piece all metal trigger guard and all metal magwell plate. The is the topside of the plate (side that faces stock)

So I measured everything and all the gaps and how low the mag sits are as low as .175" or as high as .190" so basically ± .0075" I think this confirms if I remove the red spots it SHOULD all fit!

nice project. I like the ines of the VLP stock. I am interested in the final appearance.

The other thing I am thinking of doing is this. Odds are after removing those shelves I will have low spots and I see it as I would rather have low spots than high spots that could tweak the DBM metal. so am I wrong in thinking to basically bed the DBM metal? Basically have it resting on the two pillers like it should and bed it. That way its always on a flat mating surface and stress free.

Am I crazy for thinking of this? I know it will be extra work but I dont mind that. Plus it will give me a dry run with the Devcon before doing the full action bedding.

You are correct on what has to be removed.
