Robinhood, the hole in my cocking piece didn't have the degree of chamfer that yours had. Savage must have made improvements along the way. The G prefix in my serial number indicates that mine was made some time between 2001 and 2009. There was however an unnecessarily large chamfer on the end of the cocking pin. The major mismatch were the dimensions of the pin and the cocking piece hole. Both were at the extremes and perhaps were outside Savage's expected tolerances. The diagram of your cocking piece pretty much matches the dimensions of mine.
