I have a savage 12F in .223 in a Choate Tactical Stock with bottom metal from CDI Precision Machine. I'm running AICS Mags from MTD. They work well.
I have a LRP12 260 rem in an AICS that I'm thinking about rebarreling it to a 223.I'm ust little confused on which mags to get for the 223. I was set on getting the Accurate Mag 223 but I noticed on their website it mentions that their 223mag will not work with Savage 223. The other mag I found is MTD 223 poly but not sure if it will work.
Does anyone have Savage 223 in an AICS? What mags do you guys use? Tha

Do the bolt come all the way back with a 223 baffle ?
I'm not the most knowledgeable on this board, perhaps someone else may provide more clarity. All I can tell you is that on a Savage 12FV in a Choate Tactical Stock with CDI bottom metal and MTD 223 polymer magazine, the bolt comes all the way back and cycles rounds properly from battery through ejection. Is that what you're asking? Sorry, I haven't a clue what a 223 baffle is?
The 223 baffle is longer to prevent a full bolt stroke. It’s not going to hurt anything not having one, just a little longer bolt stroke is all.
From Accurate Mag's website:
So as rranger175 and RustyShackle noted, it's due to the longer tail on the front baffle used with Savage .223 rifles. Swap out the front baffle for a standard one and the mag will work fine as the bolt stroke will no longer be limited to match the shorter factory 223 magazine length. This magazine will not work with Savage .223 rifles due to the shortened bolt stroke.

So I have a Stealth 223. What mags will work with this ? MagPul AiCS???
I have a 12 FV .223 with the .223 baffle but with a hidden Savage mag.
I switched to an Oryx stock with bottom metal to support AICS detachable mags.
I bought an MDT mag and it works beautifully with the .223 baffle.
It also allows up to 2.500 O.A.L. cartridge lengths.
MDT listed that they would not work with savage ....
Ok. I’ll try. Thanks
