Just inherited a model 99e. While looking it over noticed the receiver has a crack in the back left hand corner. Is it worth repairing or is it a parts gun now? 308cal btw

Easy repair, spread it open slighty and glue it, then clamp it overnight. 75% of all the old 99's pretty much have the same crack. Google it for a more step by step write up on how to repair it.
Definitely not a parts gun.
Savage- "never say never".
Thanx for the advice
Is it a crack in the metal or in the stock?? The stock is an easy fix, if it's the metal I'd seek out a gunsmith to check it out.
In the metal
Can you post a picture of the crack. If it's not to severe it may be possible to stop drill it to prevent further cracking. Wonder what would cause a crack!!
I know my uncle loaded his own rounds when he lived in Idaho. I'm guessing hot rounds....
I have a screenshot on my phone, but not sure how to up load it
On behalf of the forum. If the receiver is cracked, please take it to a qualified Gunsmith for evaluation. Much better to keep it over the fireplace as a family heirloom or something than to catch a face full of shrapnel....
