Savage 10 FCP-K accuracy affected by a hot barrel?

I have a new 10 FCP-K in 308. I’ve shot around 350 round through the gun. I’m trying to find a load that works best in the gun. Unfortunately, my group sizes for the same load varies. In addition, my group sizes appear to be opening each session. Currently, my group size at 100 yards has opened up to an average of .88. This past weekend, my groups averaged around 7.5 inches at 600 yard in a bench rest competition.

I’m trying to figure out why my gun isn’t shooting as well as I think it should.

Has anyone else noticed that their 10 FCP-K in 308 shoots bigger groups after the barrel gets hot? How many shots before your barrel heats up enough to affect our accuracy?

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Eric

I have a 10FLCP-K with 250 rounds through it. Just put an new scope on it (IOR 3.5-18x42 35mm tube Gen 4) and zeroed it recently @ 100 yards. It shoots very small groups (.338) using 45 grains of Varget, Hornady 168 grain A-Max, Hornady match brass and 215M primers. Velocity is 2740 FPS. I'll shoot 15 rounds roughly 30 seconds apart before letting it cool. Barrel get very warm, but it hold POA. I found that if I don't clean it, accuracy is very consistent. Accuracy has not fallen off the past 100 rounds. When it does, I'll clean it.

    Hope this helps

Check your stock. Your accuwedge may be acting up. My fcp-k shot very well for the first couple hundred rounds then the groups started getting erratic and opening up. I ditched the accuwedge and bedded the stock and it had shot consistently ever since. I have since gone with a choate tactical custom and am really. Liking it.
If its not a stock issue look into excessive copper fouling or maybe even a loose scope rail or scope.
