    PTG Bolt and Bolt Head

Years ago I purchased a PTG Bolt and Bolt head for a rifle I was going to convert from 223 to 308. I never installed it and forgot I even had it. Anyways, Is it worth messing around with in my recently acquired 12FV or is it a solution looking for a problem. Its the standard bolt face and my 12FV is a 6.5C. I might just end up selling it unless there's a compelling reason to upgrade.

If your 12FV is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor then it already has a 308 bolt face.

According to sharpshooter there is no more strength or material characteristics that make it better. It’s possible that your factory bolt face is slightly ‘dished’ and the ptg should alleviate that issue should you have it. Other than that, it might have tighter tolerances around the firing pin and prevent potential primer issues. But it’s more of an individual rifle thing and yours might be just fine and likely is.
