Try some 178 ELD-X. My 308 loves them. I reload and can hit 3 in a dime @100 yards. Was banging steel @1000 yards this past summer with them.
I took the 308 out for another quick run, I was shooting prone in the snow and getting really decent results with some old 180 grain CIL Sabretips, some 165 Hornady's and 190 grain BTSP Sierra's.
I fired two of each as quick as I could, they were all in a group about the size of a Mandarin orange at 100 yds.
This was from a small Bushnell 1.5x4 scope, with these results, I think I may put something on with higher magnification and try again from a bench when the torrential rain and snows goes away.

Those ELD X are solid shooters
Perpetual Optimism is a force Multiplier....
Got amazing results with the 168 gr Sierra Tipped MatchKing. 43.5 gr Varget, 2.900"ish COAL (can't remember exact coal but around there), 0.018" in the Lands (but not jammed in the lands).
Tried this load last weekend in some VERlY cold weather and every 5-shot group was one hole at 100 meters.
It was -10 F and -15F with the wind, and light blowing snow.
