I'm brand new to this forum but can't find the answer after searching. I'm going to purchase a 10/110ba stealth evolution and going to use it for a major coyote problem here. Would you rather use a 6.5 or a .308 ??

Both will do the job. But for better accuracy and energy over 600 yards, go 6.5CM.

Well I know you only listed the 6.5 and 308, and out of those I would pick the 6.5CM. However it’s overkill. You would be farther ahead IMHO to buy a .223

Love my 260 LRP. coyotes have feelings too. No point in making them suffer. Go with a 6.5

If I only had 1 rifle for coyote it would be 22-250. If for everything 243.

I have a .223 and a 22-250 already just really want a new toy for coyote lol. Is it worth the $ for the stealth evolution vs the stealth ?

Are you planning on keeping the pelts (don't even know if they are worth anything anymore) or just destroying coyotes?
A smaller caliber like .223 or .22-250 would be easier on the pelts.
The 6.5 is flatter shooting and a little more forgiving of range estimation errors. But I don' own a 6.5 and would happily grab my .308 to get rid of problem coyotes although my first choice would be an AR15 in .223.
6.5 for me (but I went with a .260 Rem instead of the Creedmoor). What can I say - I like the road less traveled.
Just went through a similar head-scratch process but mine was a primary whitetail rifle . . . for the one or two shots I'll need at game annually. So the REST of the year it will be pestering coyotes and paper. For that the 6.5mm made more sense to me. Past 300 yards it "wins" if you can hold up the ballistic table to where the prey can read it. ;-)
Though the .223 does well as mentioned.

Of the two you listed... I'd go with 6.5
They say "Don't try this at home"... so I'm headed over to a friend's house.
If you already have a 308, then I would go 6.5 creedmoor. But if I had neither, I would go 308 first.
If you load for a 30 cal already, then that leans toward the 308.
Shorter on money for ammo? 308.

I have a 22-250 a .243 and a 6.5 CM and I like the .243 for coyotes but for long I'll take the 6.5. The 22 is a heavy barrel so it doesn't go into the field. My last coyote was with a 308. Now I'm confused.

Really depends on the money you're willing to spend. Harris makes a good bipod for just starting out. Both the atlas and sinclair tactical bipods are great for the higher dollar bipod. For F Class, the Sinclair F Class bipod is tough to beat.Originally Posted by Thedm

I have an old Harris 6-9" that has been around 40 years. But so has Harris!
The trouble I have is that in the field I seldom want to lay down (grasses and ground plants get in the way). So I went for a MTM Shooters walking stick (under $20). It has a spike head to jab into the ground., and you can still use it right on down to 6" or even lower. Not quite as stable, but better than shooting through weeds. I added a curved nail to the handle so I can hang it on a branch and use it to steady me in the woods as well.

Concur Sir....My 12FV 22-250Rem is my first true varmint rifle, have 308 Styer, 07-08 Rem 7600.....No CM yet....Big fan of the 22-250Rem....fast and flat shooting...
