Yeah I hear ya. When the barrel is already dialed in on the lathe it makes sense to re-crown, even if it looks ok.

Since my last post, Savage replaced my barrel. I now have a very long freebore. Unfortunately weather and work have kept me away from the range. I am doing load development now. The gun shoots well but I haven't found the magic load yet. I have high hopes though.
