Can anyone comment based on product experience on which inset style adjustable comb kit to get for my rifle? I see various versions of these kits out there from different manufacturers. Most of them have round inset collars and rods with set screws. Some have larger flat inset plates. Are the large plates any better than round collars? My savage comb is too low for my scope. These inset kits require you to cut your stock comb with a saw. I'm convinced that I want to try it DIY myself since I have band saw, drill press, etc. I want a version that has both vertical adjustment, and also some left/right side cast adjustment. I'm willing to take it slow and put my own labor into this.

I use Warner Tool Company adjustable cheekpiece hardware. It is a little more labor intensive and requires some skill to install but they look great. I use a bandsaw, router, and a drill press. Most time consuming part is layout.
I use the simple neoprene sleeve from Beartooth I paid $30 for on Amazon and I love it. It came with about 6 different size inserts. Simple to put on, can be taken off in less than 10 seconds, is comfortable and doesn't require any permanent alterations. I have 3 of them and am about to order another as soon as I order my next rifle.
