I want to buy a savage rifle and have it barreled to 6.5 x 55 swede...........and I've looked and read and am about to buy a Remington classic in 6.5 x 55 just to stop my headache. Does anyone have any suggestions on getting a smooth working accurate savage rifle in 6.5 x 55 without spending a mint doing so?

The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
Well this is what I did. You could talk me into selling this one. http://www.savageshooters.com/showth...x55-Old-SchoolDoes anyone have any suggestions on getting a smooth working accurate savage rifle in 6.5 x 55 without spending a mint doing so?
You could also take a look at a Tikka or CZ. Had one of the Remington's and was not to happy with it.
ok then........I like the look of yours. How does it shoot? What do you want for yours?
It shoots good. Shot the 100gr Amax and 123gr ELD-M best. Older batch of 140gr Amax shot pretty good but was real sensitive to OAL. Since the post I have removed the 6.5x55 barrel. It now wears a heavy 22-250 barrel. I currently have the barrel up for sale on the Savage Parts forum but you may be looking for something longer than 22". Take a close at the Tikka in 6.5x55....think you will be impressed by the
reviews.
