    My Savage 340

Trying to find out how old my 340 is, not that it matters. Just curious. It's a Hornet and the bolt handle is "curved" flat, not a knob. The SN is covered by the scope mount so I can't run the number.

It's ugly and has an awful trigger. If I really concentrate on the trigger, it'll shoot around an inch, but it's work.

Any ideas on its model of the 340?

Hi Gene! Savage used letter codes, surrounded by a circle, for years between 1949-70, which might be found stamped somewhere in the metal of your gun's receiver or barrel, maybe out-of-sight, under the stock line.
    Hope this helps!

Thanks for the link. I believe mine is a 322 because of the bolt handle and the hardwood stock, not walnut.
