Do you have a flat back or round back receiver?

My brother has bought two different rails for his model 116 in 300 win. Neither of those have fit correctly. The last one said it was for the 116 but when mounted it has a bend in it. This causes the scope to be way off and unadjustable. I am not sure if there is a difference in model years or something. And input would be appreciated.

My guess is you have a flat back action and a round back rail.
The rail is flat back, not sure on the back action
good advice to match your rail...round on round and flat back on flat back. If that is correct the next question is did he buy it new or is it a used rifle?
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
Where the rear screw holes for the scope base are, if the action is flat then it's a "flat rear" long action you need.
(Internet wouldnt let me grab a pic)
If where the rear holes for the scope base are located, the action is round like this one
then its a "round rear" long action scope base you need.
