I wouldn't be surprised if the culprit is brass that was fired in a machine gun and is oversized to the point that a normal sizing die can't reduce it enough to fit. I have had that issue with surplus brass. When I sized the cases with a small base die, the problem went away.

That or a Semi Auto and not resized right.

I carry a brass rod in the car. 1/4 inch, have had a few occasions to need to use it.

Sounds like you should just shuck the ones that when you start to close the bolt they get hard to close on, stop there.

That's good advice. Thought about doing the same thing.
