so here on Savage forum they say these guns shoot great out of the box, And I must say they do!! My 308 vt shoots under an inch at 160 yards with 150 Winchesters.
so that would be about 2 inches at 320, yards. For a hunting gun you can't ask for better. would try 168 match ammo but why.

Are you talking about the 150gr Win. PP grey box ? if so, then that's darn good.
Most accurate 308win factory hunting ammo I came across was Federal Premium 165gr Sierra BTSP. It consistently shot 1/2moa or less at 330 yards.
Personally for those short distances, there is no reason to move to a boattail type bullet.

Doubling the distance and expecting the same MOA is highly unlikely.
