The only other thing I can think of is that Axis IIs only seem to come as XPs these days. That's all that Savage has on their website, and it seems like that's all I see at stores, but I don't know what's still in the pipeline.

I went ahead and bought a axis 2 in 223 yesterday , it had a weaver kaspa 3-9 scope on it WOW , for a cheap package scope its awesome , great eye relief and a drop reticle , compared it to several other top end scopes at dusk last night and its a great scope all the way around , cheap scopes have gotten a whole lot better - after a thorough looking over I don't see any difference in the axis and axis 2 except the trigger

The Weaver Kaspa is definitely a step up from that crummy Bushnell "Sharpshooter" that comes with the Axis XP. Throw in the Accutrigger too and you have a winner there!
