112BVSS Overhaul

With the barrel off, I've decided to replace the recoil lug, but I don't know if I have a large shank or not. Rifle is a 112BVSS in .300WM.
I am also wanting to either A: Lengthen the mag box to seat VLD's to the lands or,
B: Convert to a detachable box mag or,
C: Both!
Any input is greatly appreciated, and thank you.

On a large shank barrel there will be a easily noticeable "step down" in front of the barrel nut.

Thank you EFBell. I haven't found any info on people lengthening their mag boxes here. Is that something that just isn't done with Savage rifles?

You could just get a single shot insert from High Score and insert it in the magazine. Thats what I did on my 22-250 and 223 BVSS.
