Question 22-250 To Improve or Not

Starting with a Model 12 with the 1 in 9" twist 26" stainless barrel. Thinking I'd like to shoot the 75 grain A-Max

Reference this article looks like 3400 fps is doable.

    Anyone been down this road?

Go for it. Ackley 22-250 would be hard to beat. Dies aren't that expensive so I could not see a drawback

You'll definitely need to use a follower in your mag box. My 22-250 AI doesn't feed the chamber well from the magazine with the Ackley shoulder. It's a model 12 single shot now. I would use an 8" twist with those 75 grainers.
