Not normally-- BUT-- there can be time when tolerances can be to close between objects and you may have to touch it with a file.
Your lucky, it is better you have it snug and have to fit it a little, then sloppy and rattling around.
I have a factory 4 round DBM that locks in place just fine. The SSS 9 round DBM will not lock into place with a model 11 action. I can loosen the action screws and it will lock in place. Issue seems too be at the front, top edge of the SSS aluminum conversion hitting the bottom of the action. It will lock into a 2nd model 12 action in the same stock, but just barely. Both are fairly recent production center feed actions. Does the DBM have to be custom fit to each rifle? Anybody run into this problem?
Thanks,
Keith

Look for interference at the top front corners of the Savage mag where it butts into the cutout at the bottom of the action. I had to touch this area up on the mag with a dremel for reliable lockup. Doesn't take much.
