I vaguely remember the mossburg is different and the marlin is the same.
Will Savage barrels thread into a Mossberg ATR action. I found a Mossberg that has what looks like a Savage/Stevens barrel nut, instead of the smooth barrel nut shown in their factory literature.
I couldn't find any comparable specs for thread pitch and chamber lengths. Anyone actually tried it?

Short answer is the Mossberg uses a different shank/thread than that of the Savage or Marlin.
