Yes you are correct. sierra indicated AR15 and told me they didnt work up a bolt action load. I incorrectly assumed Hodgen did as well but your right they used a winchester 24" rifle and we could take that as a bolt action. But with a coal of 2.260 it is much shorter than what I am trying to load. I have a starting CBTO of 2.968 which is about a 2.350 COAL
I am trying to load (starting) .002 off the lands. AAs a rule of thumb when you increase COAL for a given load would the load of powder be decreased or increased
Hodgen shows for the load to be between 21.0 - 23.7 (compressed) for the 77gr Sierra HPBT @ COAL of 2
.260 so increasing COAL to 2.350 would increase cartridge empty volumn and should be a uncompressed load. As a rule of thumb do you increase or decrease a load when you increase COAL?
