Hey guys.
This has probably been asked before. Is it totally safe to dry fire my 116 ? As in I wont be damaging it at all ?
Cheers
Tim

i bet i have at least 500 dry fires on each of my 2 actions and no issues.
It seems like I remember someone saying that stresses the cross pin and may cause it to crack into at the pin hole but who am I to judge.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
Unless it's a rimfire or archaic gun without ready replacement parts, I dry fire all the time. In those cases, I use snap caps.
Is it ok to fire without the snap caps? @DrThunder88
Rimfires run the risk of the pin hitting the chamber wall, which can result in problems. Some antique guns may not have heat treating capable of dealing with it (CZ52s are bad for this) and without a replacement part, it would render a gun unshootable. All of my modern centerfires get dry fired without snap caps.
