Some of that is going to depend on how many lands are in your barrel. I've had V-max's grenade in 1-8 twist 3 groove barrel @ 3500 fps. The same load in a 1-8" 6 groove barrel survived 3800+.

I always check in the Hornady loading manual, they give a general bottom level and a max level. I know that the 358 SSP's are to be 2700 fps, in one of my 35 Whelen's they are right at 3000 fps. I have checked and double checked they are at 3000 fps, they make short order on white tails here in Wisconsin.

    If in doubt call Hornady

I did this a couple years back with all the majors.
Emary specifically told me the V-max RPM limit is 290,000.
Sharp was correct about barrels, partially.
Grooves per se' don't matter, but barrel smoothness plays a great role. Whether the grooves or bore are rough/sharp will really fool with the numbers.
I'm a firm believer in the theory that if it bleeds, I can kill it.
