    Cables

Anybody know where I can get new cables made for a tree stand? These are the ones from the back of the stand to the platform with the ends crimped on. The rubber coating is gone and the cables are getting rusty. The company that made the stand is OOB.

    Would chain work for that?

Thought about that, haven't really looked into it. I guess if I could find rubber coated chain the right size(for quietness).

1/4" ID thygon tubing, 1/4" SS cable and cable clamps, preferably the crimped type, they'll do a nicer job. Better equipped HW stores generally have all three and the crimping tool you can rent, borrow or if you talk to them nice they'll crimp them for you. We had all three and made a few at work ?

Try a 1" nylon ratcheting strap, used them for 2 of mine before I went to a tree walker climber, which I found to be more stable and with a larger platform.

These are the cables that hold the platform, not go around the tree. I already use ratchet straps to hold against the tree.
    BillPA-any suggestions locally?

We can get the wire rope at Lowes where I live. I can't see a good hardware store not having wire rope, ferrule and a ferrule crimp. Often a wire rope clamp is used by the layperson in lew of ferrules due to the tooling required. Sorry for the pic size. Use at least two per end

Hostetters in MJ. Not sure about B&G. I don't know if either has the crimp style clamps although but it really won't matter, you can use the regular galvanized jobs with nuts just as well.
If I was still 'employed' at the place on the corner of Baindridge and Brown streets I'd get the stuff for ya!

Are the old cables still good, just the rubber coating is worn? If so just buy some of that rubberized Plastic Dip made for tool handles.

They are very rusty.Had one break on me before, don't care to do that again. I like to replace them as a pm measure.

Thanx Bill,I'll check around here. Enjoy the retirement.
