    Model 111

I found what I think sounds to be a good deal on a used Savage model 111 chambered in 30-06. I would be purchasing this for a donor action to built a 300 WSM on a long-action. The rifle does not have the accu-trigger and has a blind magazine. That is all I know about it.

Are there cheap modifications that can be made to the non-accutrigger that lightens the pull? Such as the spring Jim at NSS sells for the accu-triger?

If it is the three screw trigger, they are quite adjustable. Mine safely runs 2.5 lbs with a .040 spring (fabricated from piano wire). http://www.savageshooters.com/conten...ent-Procedures

Bolthead - thanks for the link. I do have the 3 screw trigger. Looks fairly straight forward.

I did not have to remove any metal or smooth anything down to get to the 2.5 lbs pull. The biggest difference was the lighter spring. Still have max sear engagement to keep it safe.
