Got to shoot my Savage for the first time...WOW!!!

I bought my first Savage a few days ago and got to take it to the range on Labor Day. It is a Mark II BTVSS and all I can say is WOW!!! This is my 5th .22LR rifle. I also have a Henry Golden Boy, a Ruger 10/22 Take Down, a Mossberg 715T and a Marlin 81DL. Obviously these guns, while all being .22s, are all different. Two are semi-auto, two bolt action, and 1 lever.

I enjoy shooting them all, but in terms of accuracy none of them are as nice as the Savage. I shot 100 rounds at 100 yards using 6" Shoot-N-C targets. 99 of the 100 went in the 10 ring, most in to the red dot. I was shooting from a bench with a couple of sand bags and using a Nikon ProStaff Rim Fire scope.

    I REALLY like this rifle.

Are most Savage guns this accurate?

Sounds like a nice rifle OP, got any pics? Here is a pic of one I picked up today...nothing fancy here, just another "plinker":

I'll get it out this coming weekend to do some shooting.

YES all 3 savages I own are very accurate. I bought my daughter a MKII this last Christmas and its at least if not more accurate than my 10/22. It even has the skinny barrel. Its a shame I can't shoot it anymore because I modified the stock to fit her small frame and now I can't see through the scope.
Have a blast and blast away!

My Savage is most accurate rimfire rifle I have and I have quite a few of them. I have a CZ 453 that's close but the MkIIBTV I have is just a bit better. Just to give you an idea what it's capable of doing here are a couple of targets it's shot. Not all targets are like these obviously but I have made it much more consistent with a little basic work (pillar bedding, sanding the stock to keep the barrel floated, adjusted the torque on the action screws). I'm posting these groups to prove one thing. These rifles can be very accurate.

The first target was only 4 shots because I ran out of ammo. This is the best target I've ever shot with any rifle I guess. The distance is 50 yards.

This is 5 shots at 50 yards. The target is one of the target patches for a standard Shoot N C target.

This one is 12 shots also at 50 yards with each shot at a different target. The big ring measures 1" outside to outside.

I actually have kept a whole bunch of targets like these. I usually post the best ones like everyone else but the 12 shot target here is not my best work. Here's a few others just because I never post them,

    These are 90 yard groups.

I have a bunch more but enough is enough. I won't do this again.

I picked up a model 10 FCP-SR 308 in June that is by far the most accurate factory gun I've ever owned. It shoots better than 1/2 MOA if you feed it Hornady 165 or 168 grain A-max. At least that's what I've found so far.
I like it so much that I went out and model a Model 93 BTVSS in 22 Magnum. That gun at 50 yards makes on hole in the paper. Opens up a little more at 100 as you'd expect, but it's silly accurate.
So yes, it would appear that most Savage rifles are pretty good on accuracy. Magazines may be a different story.

Stonewall, it's obvious that, not only is your rifle a tack driver, but dam sure know what you're doing! I"ll have to take a look at the Mark IIBTV!!
