I think there was rumor of the uncertainty of the 12fv future. But, if I'm seeing there site correctly, it appears the 22-.250 is avail. Thought I'd mention it, in case it cheers someoone up. I been wanting one, but I think Ill wait to see about ammo
22-250 is out of stock now with the rest of them
Here's a place with a stock of 12FV's in .308. A buddy and I each picked one up this past weekend. Cabela's sticker on them and all. Not the least expensive we've seen them, but not the most expensive either.

New here, but not too new...... Great thread on the 12FV....
Looks like these are no long available at Cabelas.
The 12 FVs were only available at Cabela's because they were made to Cabela's specs by Savage specifically for Cabela's.
The same for the 10T-SR, also made only for Cabela's.
That is why you never saw either of them on the Savage web site as a 'Savage rifle'.
Anyone else selling 12 FVs is selling them second hand after they originally bought them from Cabela's.
Even if they are selling them new in box, they had to be purchased from Cabela's and probably marked them up.
I bought mine in 223 new years ago and it sits in a xlr element
I bought two of these last September one in 308 and the other in 6.5 Creedmoor
I have one in 6.5. Love it absolute tack driver.

Thank you! Wondered if something generic would work. Probably will invest in that since I’m a bit of a one shot wonder in the field with this thing for time being. Takes me a second to get that barrel steadied up. Better make it count!

Here I finally resigned myself to the fact that Cabelas Savage 12FV had gone the way of the dodo, and I missed my opportunity. Lo and behold, this weeks ad showed the 12FV again!
I drove the hour to cabelas, waited in the electronic queue for another hour, only to be told “there was only 1 in the state and it sold last night”.
Another worker passing by heard that and said “there might be one in the back room.”
He came back with a 12FV in .223 Varmint barrel and said “this one is really the last one in the state now.”
Got a 5% “PSG” discount (Pre-Scratched Gun, according to the manager) and another 5% Veteran discount - wearing my Navy hat paid off:)
Still not as good a deal as my friend who last year bought a couple and got a savage rebate and a cabelas rebate of $50 each if I recall correctly.
Didn’t really want a bolt .223 but planning on putting a .308 or 6.5 something on it anyway.

Wow. That's good news. I wonder if they are newly mfg or left overs from a warehouse somewhere.
Leftovers or Old new stock.
I was able to buy 2 FV12's this past July. It took some phone calls with 2 different store managers and one gun dept manager to get it done. I wrote a blistering negative review on BPS's website when one of those surveys popped up. The website advertises them, but no apparent way to actually purchase them as the website shows no inventory. The store manager emailed me his phone #, I called him and explained what happened, he replied with "I'll see what i can do". Later that day another store manager called with info, and asked if his dept manager could call me later with caliber selections. Within a week I had two FV12's waiting on me at the store I requested they be sent to. LOL. Both are shooters as usual.
Interesting to read all the different stories around these. I got a sales email that listed these and 1 store reported “not available” while the 2nd store in town (we have 2 in Denver) reported “limited availability” or similar.
Clicking on select caliber showed 6.5 and .308 that night. The next morning while standing in the store, the same selection only showed .308. By the time I got to the front of the queue and talking to a sales rep, it changed to “not available” and no choices in the caliber pull down. Rummaging around in back, they pulled out 1 in .223
Has anyone tried 40 grainers in the .223 model?

Does Savage produce a model like the 12FV now? Meaning and inexpensive rifle with a decent barrel?
