You most certainly could have done a lot worse than a Leupold. :)
Jim, I have a couple of the early Mark ARs a 1.5-4x and a 3-9x (on ARs) and they have performed very well. I like em much better than the Redfield Revolution and the Battlezone I own. I'm pretty sure they are the equivalent to a couple of steps above the VX1s definitely better than my old vari x2s but I'm not sure what the difference if any is between my very early Mark AR models and the newer Mod 1s are.
1bdvet I think you will be very happy with your choice.
