You got it - unscrew the 270, put a 30-06 on snug against a gage or fired and resized case.
I think a Stevens 200 270 to 30-06 conversion is just a straight up barrel swap (& check headspace) but I want to make sure. Am I missing anything?
Thanks,
Jerry

So you're going from .270 to 30.06? What's the contour and what's your plan for the .270 barrel? Going to keep it?
Oz never gave nothing to the Tin Man, that he didn't already have.
Let me ask this then, is 270 Win to 25-06 also a straight-up barrel swap? After all, the 30-06 is the parent case for both. Probably leaning this way. I have access to a brand new Stevens 25-06 take-off for the low price of free, including install. As for the 270 barrel, It will be available.....cheap.
Thanks,
Jerry
22-06, 6mm-06, 25-06, 6.5mm-06, 270 Win, 280 Rem, 30-06, 8mm-06, 338-06, 35 Whelen, 9.3x62, 375-06 and 400 Whelen (and the AI versions of all of them) are all just straight barrel swaps.
So is anything based on the Mauser case (257 Roberts, 6mm Rem, 7x57 etc.) and many, many other posibles (284 Win, 308, etc.) A few may take some mag tweaking to feed well but that is it.
Thanks for the info...I truly appreciate it.
Jerry
