Trying to get ready for my WY pd hunt....

Got a chance to go out after work the other morning and sight in my 22-250. It was a stock rifle and the tupperware was flexing and rubbing to the barrel.... It has a varmint barrel on it but the only stock I had on hand to fit a varmint channel was on my CF 280AI. So off came the 280AI barrel and on went the 22-250 barrel onto the CF action and choate tactical stock.
This is my go-to load for this rifle.
35.1gr IMR4064 and a 50gr Vmax. Its not a screamer (about 3580fps) but Im happy with the accuracy out of it.
I went out to 400yd (as far as my local range goes)
    And here are the results
    100yds

200yds. The paper tore on this page so it doesn't look as good.

    300yds

    And 400yds

Im pretty sure I had my rifle torqued some on this group. I had to adjust the height on my bipod and I dont think I had it quite level.

Nothing better than an afternoon on a good dog town with a 22-250 and some vmax's. With groups like that 300 yard one your gonna have a blast!

Take enough ammo and dont beat yourself up over missing some. Just find another and send another round.
Its about having fun, not keeping score. Id be curious about your opinions as to what guns etc. you would want
for your next trip. I always take three but pretty much only use two.

Mossy, Ive had the best luck with vmaxs in regards to explosive expansion compared to the other brand of plastic tips....thats why I stay with them. And theyre pretty darn accurate too!

Yobuck, I dont want to miss any but I know its going to happen. If I miss, the next ones got it coming lol.
My plan is to take my 22-250, and my 17 hornet. 100rds each. Ill only have 1 day so...Im hoping thatll be enough. Im going to be flying out there so I kinda gotta watch what all I take. Ill definitely give a post-hunt update when I get back. I cant wait to go!

Shoot the close ones first with the 17 hornet. When the shooting starts the close ones get smart quick and stay out of sight.
That way you can conserve the ammo for the 22/250 also. About 100 rounds is a decent day for me loading singly.

If your groups aren't the same or close at 400 as they are at 100 you have some work to do...if you don't have time then shoot your best load hope for the best and have fun.

Yobuck, thanks for the info! Ill keep that in mind.

Longrange, I was still kinda sighting in when I shot those groups. Im planning on shooting again this coming week. Planned to today but its been pouring the rain all day. I was in a bit of a hurry too....pretty much sayin the changes in poi were me lol. Should be better this week when I get out.
