rebarraling an axis 223 to 22-250/243

I recently got a savage axis with heavy barrel and accu trigger in 223.

I recently found out a 22-250 or 243 would have been a better round for long range varmints. I hear I can get barrels for the axis. anyone know how much these cost?

really don't want to buy a completely new gun.

Any small shank barrel in 22/250 for the Savage 10/110 series will work, you'll also have to change the bolt head and magazine to make it work for you.

what do you mean by bolt head? I think the gun has a long action if that helps. where can I find the barrels? and how much do they run?

The 223 has a head on the bolt that's set up for the diameter of 223 brass. Since the 22/250 - 308 brass is of a larger diameter, you'll need a larger diameter bolt head. Easily replaceable.

Also make sure the bolt head you get is for a short action. I know the Axis is a long action, but it uses a short action bolt head.
