im not looking for load data im asking what powders guys are having good results with with the 120g class bullets...i know H4350,imr4046,RL-15 ect are good choices but thought id ask to see whats working for others here. hornady lists mostly slower burning powders.

I won last months e-mail match using these bullets and Varget. 3x5 shot groups with an average of .429". I've had much better results with Varget than H4350 using the 123's in both my Savage 260 and the Remage 260 I just built. Velocity in my Savage was ~2935 with 26" barrel. I've even thought of trying RL15 but this combo is shooting so well I'm not changing anything. If you'd like more specific info shoot me a PM.

That is the first time, I hear of some one preferring H4350 over RL17.

LR, with a either a 120 Nosler BT or old Solid Base I've tried Varget,RL15-17, N140/540 and may have tried 414(?) but H4350 w/ a F210 or Wolf LR primer always produced the best accuracy from my rifle, a sporter w/24" barrel.

I use Win 760 and H414, they yield the highest fps 3200+ and tightest groupings, the load i use is high 40s of either.

To add to that when I AI the barrel, even though I had more room for powder, I could not add any I had reached it's max as far as case volume wise and pressure, so with my new found 4 to 5 grains extra capacity I went to full cases of RL17 gained another 150fps and kept the same groupings and stuck with that load.

    ~2930fps with a 120 NBT or 123 Amax over 39.3gr Varget, RP brass, 26" 1:8 Criterion.

    Shot well in a 20" 1:8 McGowen and a 22" 1:9 Remington 700 factory tube.

Understand completely, RL17 definitely gives speed...

4064 is good with 123s, too.

While similar, they aren't the same, but...
In my Creedmoor I've had very good results with 760/414, and Superformance does nicely as well. After doing work with MZ5 and the Pressure Trace this past winter, the burning rate/pressure curve of Superformance is VERY different than any other propellant tested. Most burn quick to a peak and immediately fall, Super burns up the same but then flatlines and looks very table-top before drop-off. Once you begin to really push to the upper edge of operating pressure that becomes less-so. But at least in the Creed, what that means is that you can get more velocity from lower pressures; due to the progessive nature of the burn curve.
I'm a firm believer in the theory that if it bleeds, I can kill it.

Thus far it is not an issue here in the desert portion of my state(Yes there is a desert, not all trees and hippies)
I bought it because it was cheap, so bought-in about 18# of 1 lot. As far as non-anecdotal evidence, we did a bunch of rapid fire and chamber-soak tests. Very similar, but slightly more stable than H4350 when we tested it in the Creed.

Again, temp sensitivity is tied to what things were designed for, or are similar to. The Creed works VERY well with powders that the 30-06 likes, and that is what Superformance was built for; What I don't know is which bullet weight, but suspect it was the 150-class stuff.

i prefer the RL-17 over 4350 in my other 260 as im getting 9FPS consistent ES's....this is the first and only group i shot out of my other 260 this morning before shooting the 123s in my BA 260 just to confirm load/zero and shooter just in case the BA 260 wasnt shooting well....im going to try the RL-17 in the BA 260 with the 123s when i get a chance.

    41.5g RL-17
    BR-2
    140g hornady match
    seated .020 off
    2834-2843FPS...a little slow but accurate
    330yds in a 10-12mph changing wind

If you choose not to pursue this load, I will gladly buy the rest of the box of you.
