Welcome to the site
Good morning, Gents. I'm new to this forum, but have been pointed here by several folks on other forums, most notably OpticsTalk, where I spend most of my time. I'm building a long range handgun for big game, and have already purchased a savage dual port target action. I have never owned a Savage before, but I'm excited to get my build started. The current plan for the first barrel is a 300WSM barrel from McGowen, and a 7Fingers stock, with a SWFA SS 3-15x42 scope. I'm considering the 6.5 Creedmoor for the second barrel, but this will be a long-running process due to funds. Any advice appreciated regarding components for the target action. I've lurked here some, but now I have a reason to be a regular.

Sweet! I love spending other people's money.
What is your definition of long range hunting with a handgun?
Since you say you are new, give Joe the correct screw spacing for the dual port action. I believe they were some 4.40" and some 3.44" versions. I currently have my second 7Fingers on order, both were the second generation models. I have not tried the extended side plates as the standard ones allowed enough lead to get to 16 lbs. Order your McGowen now as you will have a roughly 16 weeks of waiting, the 7Fingers will be 2-3 weeks. This is similar to what your build will look like.
More shooting, less typing.
Welcome!

That's beautiful, Jamie. Thanks for the heads-up on the 7Fingers screw spacing. I'm going to check it tonight.
