    4064 with ? for .22-250

Have a Model 10, in .22-250 plan to load with IMR 4064 and 55 grain bullets currently have v-max, Nosler FBSP and Nosler Varmegeddon, both tipped and non. any advice on charge weight, and COL to start with? I honestly don't know the twit rate of this rifle. haven't taken the time to measure.

35gr IMR 4064 and coal of 2.350 would be a good place to start, 4064 is OK but I would find a slower powder to maximize efficiency.

IMR4064 has worked well when I still had my slow twist barrel with the 55grain sierra blitzkings. I think I was running 35 grains also. I run IMR4350 and IMR4451 with 80grain bullets in my fast twist now.

Thanks again. I'm using 4064 because I have better luck obtaining it locally, and will also be using it for .308

4064 works like a champ in mine. My pet load is 36.0gr of IMR 4064 and a 53gr Vmax with a c.o.al. of 2.440" which is .025" from the lands in my rifle.

I have been loading IMR 4064 in 22-250s since 1965 and have one barrel that has had over 10,000 rounds through it. Ninety percent was 4064 and the rest was 4350 and the bullets were 50 or 55 gr. When I first started loading it the load was 36 gr with either bullet, but the last while it started to show pressure signs and I had to back off to 35.7gr. This was in that barrel and several others, I don't know if they changed the powder or what.

Great powder for the 22-250 with any bullet weight from 40-60 grains. I run 34.5-36 grains with a 55 depending on bullet design. Best accuracy with my Savages came with 50 grain pills.
