I just bought an Axis in .223 and I would like to find out when it was made. The serial number starts with H8877___.

Thanks Rosco, but I tried this and all I get is a parts list. No date of manufacture.
We have a whole section of Savage FAQ's chock full of answers for questions such as this.

Seems that page is hit or miss. One of my rifles it does show the date and on another serial number it does not. Try the Jbaker suggestion he knows best.
Thank you J. Baker and Rosco. I was searching the Axis thread and did not check the FAQ's.
I kinda get a kick out of folks wanting to know the date that their Axis was made considering they didn't start making them until 2008 and they've never made any changes to them.

Actually it was March of 2009 when they cut them loose. They did not debut at the SHOT show, but rather at a distributor show in Reno.
