    gun barrel

Hello, I have a Hog Hunter in 308, I removed the iron sights for the sake on the scope I mounted. there is some kind of adhesive under the mounts & I actually had to tap them with a small hammer to break them loose from the barrel after the screws were remover. Has anyone ran into this too & if so, how do I remove the dried & crusty stuff from my barrel without ruining the finnish? Thank you for any information. Engineer0708

Goo Gone is great stuff. If it seems gummy you can also use a hair dryer to heat it up a bit to remove the residue. Don't go nuts with the heat. Don't want to damage the barrel finish. Acetone may also work but don't know if that will compromise the finish. If you decide to try it, start by pouring some on a cloth or old T-shirt and then wiping the barrel. Don't use a paper towel. The goo will cause the paper to stick to the barrel making it look even worse. Good luck!
