    Savage 110 E 22-250 Age

First off Hello this is my first post. Been browsing and reading all I can.

I have an older 110 E in 22-250 that I plan to change to 308. Finding it difficult to find much information on this weapon. It is marked Savage Model 110E Cal. 22-250REM and the Ser. # is E680722. What I have read leads me to believe this is one of the older Short Actions, it is 4.522 "

I believe I can simply change barrels. I will be rebuilding this on a new custom stock as well. The old stock was cut down years ago for my daughter when she was younger and used to go deer hunting with me. It has been sitting in the safe for years and I decided to give it a new life.

Update: I looked at the Sticky - FAQs and Gunsmithing Articles and found more info. Should have read that before posting. So it seems my gun is a 1st. Gen Short action (4.522 ") and that it dates some time before 1988 (110E).

Any problem with this action being rebarreled to 308?

I have a 110E in .223 Remington, which I purchased new in the late eighties, with SN E758xxx, if that gives you a better time reference.

It's an ideal candidate for rebarreling to .308. Same bolt head and everything. just be sure the headspace is set properly. As always when changing cartridges, the magazine lips may need adjusting to make them feed properly.
