7mm something Target/long range hunter opinion

I am going to set up one of my actions with a 7mm something or other.
Want a 26" varmint barrel to shoot 162 amaxes and 180 bergers.

Right now I am looking at the 7mm RSUM, 7mm WSM or a 284 and leaning towards the 284.

I have a control feed magnum action and also have a .483 bolt head.

Seen a guy running a 7-300WM running 180gr Bergers over 3000FPS. Watching the bullet trail in all the videos that thing was a laser beam!

7mm WSM brass availability is next to nil. Several manufacturers are making 6.5x284 brass and necking up is simple. I can sway you more if need be.....

284 brass is better quality too and that is part of the reason I am leaning towards 284.

I have read quite a bit that for long range target barrel life of the 7mm wsm and rsum is about 600 rounds before accuracy goes down.
What is it roughly for the 284 ?

Since your in s. fl pm me and maybe we could hook up somewhere. I have lots of pictures of our guns and where and how we use them.
Including large 7mms and many years experience with the 162 hornady bullets. And how we found they compare with the 180 Berger.

I am assuming you are building on a short action. If so the straight 284 gets my vote, but if not I think the 280 Ackley is a great option. Essentially all the performance of the 7mm mag with a bit less powder consumption and recoil.

A friend of mine shot 1000yd competition with one. We were talking about it yesterday. He told me that cartridge was one of his two favorite cartidges ever. The other was a 6.5/280 Ackley improved. That to me is a very viable option these days with the availability of excellant 280 Ackley brass from nosler.

28 Nosler. More poop than any of the others you mentioned.

Great round for your CRF action.
