    OK here we go, 30-06

60gr or as much as you can stuff in the case probably 63gr of Varget H4895 or RL15 will get you well over 3800FPS

    as for the 308

45gr of h 4198 of RL 7 with room for more will get you 3600 fps plus easy

just a note both my 30-06 and 308 barrels are 28 inch 12 twists

And don't forget to go to church, upgrade insurances, notify next of kin before using any load info from Dean.

Sorry brother, I just couldn't resist.
    Have a nice day.

With a 110 gr it would be almost impossible to overpressure unless it was very fast burning powder I would think?

Ding Ding Ding we have a winner, that is exactly what happens.by the time pressure starts to spike the bullet is long gone.

And the bulge in the barrel following the bullet will help the pressure stay within limits....

To the original poster, do you have the Hornady manual, the latest one? My suggestion would be to follow the hornady manual at first to get a feel for the 110 vmax with whatever powder you choose. Keep in mind what works in someone elses rifle could be an overpressure load in your chamber. I for one believe in conservative values set forth by a company like hornady has equipment to measure and predict speed and pressure. This is my opinion and if you follow this advice I promise your gun will be fine. Taking loads that are not even listed in a manual can be dangerous and or deadly. Safety first and then a lifetime of fun.
Willing to give back for what the sport has done for me!

All good suggestions! I follow manuals just to be safe and usually never max out a load anymore. The 06 is a great gun and fantastic for reloading. I use one often. Hope you find some good loads and the guys here are very knowledgeable. My Hornady manual, which I use the most, shows the 110 VMAX anywhere from 3000 fps to 3400 fps (max) and depending on powder. 56gr of Varget would get you close to 3300 fps depending on rifle and twist .... good luck ....

Great terminal performance with that bullet, mediocre accuracy.

The 125 ballistic tip always gave better accuracy in my rifles.

Book loads of Varget in .308 and H414 in 30-06.

    +1 for the 125 gr.
    Except I use a 125 sierra prohunter in 30-06 with IMR 4064
Exceptional accuracy, very flat to 300yds, have killed 10+ blacktails and 1 bighorn ram all one shot kills

I plan to work up a 110gr vmax load as well. I will use H335. I did a search for load data for both H335 and Varget, that's what I have. I noticed that only one older reference lists Varget as an option. Nosler load data, Lyman 49th ed, Hodgdon load data and Sierra load data does not list Varget as an option. The Speer #14 manual lists Varget as an option. If I search Varget loads for the 110gr, I find Varget suggestions that others have used with apparent success. Just out of curiosity, why is it that Varget is not listed in the "official" references? Is is just burn rate? I'll be using this load in a Rem 700 1:12 twist 20in barrel. Will not use it in my Savage Mod10. It's too heavy to lug around in the field. Thanks.

The reason it is not listed is because, it is not a common load or combination, and bullet or powder company's can't do every possible variation, there are just to many. there is no load data for 110 Vmax's for 300 win mag or 300 RUM yet that has never stopped me, I am still here to talk about it, load data from either online sources or manuals should be used a guides, not bibles there are to many variables, IE: powder batches, chamber specs, there must be a dozen different variables I can think of right off the bat, learn to recognize pressure signs and you will be far ahead of anybody else arbitrary data.

The Hodgdon site lists Varget loads for 110 grain bullets in 30-06 but not .308. In .308, you already have compressed loads with Varget and a 125 grain bullet, so with the 110 grain bullet, you have pressures on the low side even with compressed loads.

Hodgdon has thoroughly wrung out H4895 as their recommended "reduced load" so they prefer to steer people desiring light (low pressure) loads to H4895 than to Varget. Yet another reason to choose a 125 grain bullet if you want to stick with a slower powder like Varget.

In .308 you need a powder faster than Varget to get max velocity. It will work in 30-06. Good luck getting pdog accuracy though. You have to hit 'em to hurt 'em.

That should put you close to that 3500 FPS, you were looking for, and be nowhere near any signs of pressure.

thats what im thinkin, it looked like about 61 gr would completely fill the case so well see! i just want to launch some pdogs like a rocket. 53 gr vmax launches them good, cant even imagine what the 110 will do
