Hello all. My real name is David. MuddyJimmy is in reference to an old 75 GMC K5 Jimmy I used to wheel. I just purchased a Savage 11-VT in .308 today. I not new to firearms but this is my first Savage. I purchase this rifle for target shooting and work my way (and the rifle's way) up to longer range precision shooting. I am sure I will have a few questions along the way. I have already removed the scope and mounts to replace with a Weaver rail, Leupold rings, and a Vortex Viper HS-T 4-16x44. Oh, and a Harris bi-pod too

I plan on shooting it this way for a bit and then replace the flimsy stock with something a little more rigid. I only have some factory ammo for now. I currently reload all my other calibers so I need to pick up some .308 dies to get started on this one.

I won't be able to break this rifle in until next week but will update with my findings.
