Will a 223 AI cartridge feed properly with the factory Detachable Box Mag? Doesn't seem like there should be any issues since it's a center feed and the cartridge is fairly small, but you guys would know for sure.

Would it be a better option to get different bottom metal and a new clip made for AI's?

with a centre feed, I wouldn't worry! Factory mag should feed just as reliably, I've heard some may require a slight tweaking of the feed lips, ie opening them up ever so slightly, but I've also heard that no modification is requred. It all depends on how tight the lips are on regluar .223 cases.
