    Weather proofing a wood stock

This will be my first season hunting with a wood stock. My other guns are laminate or synthetic. It is inevitable that I will be in either freezing rain or snow at least one day this fall. Should I spray something or Tru oil the inside of the stock? It is not bedded yet, just strait like it came from the factory.

The factory finish is pretty thin. Rough it up with 0000 steel wool and add a few coats of Tru-Oil would be my recommendation. Use the same process at the end of hunting season to fix the nicks and scratches you'll get from field use.
