I took a SF action and installed it into a CF stock inlet for DBM. The only way it is possible was to use the HFP. You could machine the reciever to match a newer CF action and it would work then for sure. I opted to leave the action the same cut some off the attached mag box, then modify the bottom metal.
The modifications to bottom metal would not allow it to be used for its original purpose anymore. It's kind of expensive too if you're buying parts new from Savage. That is what I did. The rifle feeds properly and looks pretty good too. I still like doing a bit of finish work.

That will work on a long-action as the action screw spacing is the same, but not on short-actions.
