    My .223 Savage 11G

    I have a Savage 11G in .223 Rem which I bought several years ago, which I am planning on using it for whitetail deer this fall. Yes, I have heard the "too light" arguments, but I am determined and I always "pick" my shots. In trying to work up an appropriate load for deer I have 2 questions;

    1) What is the twist rate of my rifle ?

    2) What is a bullet or load you have been pleased with on medium game in .223 Rem ?

    Thanks.....Forger

    The twist rate is 1-9. Try a 65 gr. Sierra game king.

    65 gr. Game Kings work very well. I shot a buck at 75 yards. Turned both lungs to jello, put a nice hole through the heart and ended up in the off sholder mostly intact. It did more damage to the vitals than the doe I shot (same shot location) with a 30-06 and did it with less meat damage.

    That 65 gr GameKing is an amazing bullet. I use them in my 22-250 that has a 1-12 twist and they stabilize fine.
