    Model 12 , G in serial number, looking for model ID

    Hi I purchased a second hand, Mod 12 Varminter, not sure which model
    its SS , plastic stock, internal feed Mag. fluted heavy barrel
    Has G in the serial which would make it after 2003 model.
    any help on the model appreciated.

    Whack it in the JVC:

    Go to Savagearms.com
    Store -> Partfinder -> Ser#:
    All Good!

    by the way, G might be from 2001 to 2009...

    Yes, the Savage sought can help. If it remember correctly, and I might not, that should be a model 12FVSS.
    More shooting, less typing.

    The letter 'G' designates it came with a wood stock. All the rest is up to Savage Part Finder, provided it's newer that 1995. Right guys?

    You are referring the the model number, but I think the question refers to a G serial number prefix.

    No, my model of rifle is a '110'. My SN is 'G456xxx'. Also translated to a model 110G, Long Action, Accutrigger, Centerfeed, Blind Mag, Round back Action, wood stock.

    The "g" in the serial number has nothing to do with the G in the model number. The G in the model numbers at one time meant wood youth stock(and it may still.
    I think the G in the serial number designates the years of production, I personally have some that are F's, G's. and H followed by the rest of the number.
    Search here on the site I think in the FAQS and you will find your answer.

    No worries bang204, its a great feature, I searched my last purchase and found it was manufactured on my birthday! They used to include the time of day as well but that seems to have been removed

    Out of interest the serial numbers listed start around the;
    F mid series from Jan 1996
    through to
    G series Nov 2001 to Nov 2009
    H series Dec 2009 to May 2013
    No I series (prevent I/1 confusion I assume)
    J series May 2013 to current J4xxxxx

    There is a degree of inconsistency, missed numbers and some serial dated 1999 precede 1996 numbers....

    Mazda3gun, just go with it!! model code G = timber stock, (B = laminate).....
