    Re-barrel a 12 LRP

I'd like to use my model 12 LRP for F-T/R shooting which means I'd have to either sell it and get a F-T/R rifle or re-barrel in either .223 or .308. If I choose to re-barrel what would be the best choice in barrel maker? Is a barrel swap, if I get the tools, something I can do myself?

Talk to Jim at northland shooters supply. Yes you can do it yourself and he has the tools. Search for rebarrel or read the savage articles on this site. There should be one covering it.

The difference in barrel makers is close to inconsequential (with few exceptions). Your reloading will have far more effect. Take the time to learn exactly what your gun/barrel combo likes.

You can sell the barrel you have now and get what you want to reduce cost. When you order from Jim, get everything at once - the shipping will be far less expensive (the barrel swap tools weigh a ton).
