Firearm Registration Bill Introduced In Illinois, HB4715

Illinois State Rep. Kelly M. Cassidy (D-14) introduced a bill on Feb. 5 that would require gun owners to register every gun they own. According to the bill, called the Firearms Registration Act (HB4715), this would not just apply to new purchases but Illinoisans would also need to register guns they already own.

    This is even more disturbing.

“Provides that a person shall not purchase or possess ammunition within this State without having first obtained a registration certificate identifying a firearm that is suitable for use with that ammunition, or a receipt demonstrating that the person has applied to register a suitable firearm under the Act and that the application is pending.”

Colorado managed to recall politicians that signed that state's gun control laws. Time to follow suit Illinois.

Yup, we already have always had to have a firearms owner ID card, FOID, just to look at a gun, buy a gun, and buy ammo. This is the liberal reaction to the concealed carry bill that actually passed last year. Also, the state attorney General wanted to publish and create an online website of every person who possessed a FOID last year. The only thing that saved us from that was State Police opposition to it. Great state to live for wildlife, but insane in laws and taxes. Can't wait to get out of this place unless things change.

I hope we see more of an equal and opposite push in the majority of our states. Arizona as well as many other freedom loving states have taken steps to protect us from federal overreach and have helped secure state constitutional rights. Connecticut has several citizens now considered to be felons due to recent unconstitutional legislation. If the state decides to enforce its new law that recently went into effect at the beginning of 2014, the local and federal government may be in for a rude awakening [More on CT's possible gun confiscation].

AZ is going to lose Jan Brewer as Governor, she has served the maximum term allowed. As a citizen of Arizona, I feel this is going to be an important and interesting race. I hope that Arizona gets a candidate that is willing to stand up to our tyrannical government and not push local gun-control on the citizens with the same resolve as Jan Brewer.

We make the difference so get out and vote. We need to remove representatives that feel our constitutional rights are out dated or do not apply to life in the US today and instate representatives that truly stand with the people.

I will be doing a write-up, state by state, listing their current stance as freedom loving or tyrannical. It's a hefty project that I hope to have completed in the following month.

Starting to border on the edge of getting to political here guys. Lets keep it focused on actual gun rights, otherwise we'll have to close it down.

You got it, I'm definitely politically active. I will tone it down to pertinent Second Amendment information rather than political opinion.

It is interesting on this side of the 'pond' to hear talk of the registration of firearms. As far as I can remember we have always had to register firearms and shotguns. In 1987 after a shooting semi auto rifles were banned with minimal compensation and in 1997 ALL handguns were banned following a school shooting. Both situations were possible due to the relevant firearms being registered. Now we have to give "good reason" to apply to purchase any firearm that is shown on a 'Firearm Certificate' or in the case of shotguns any that has a capacity of more that 3 rounds and again they have to be shown on a 'Shotgun Certificate'

In 1997 25000 shooters marched the streets of London and peacefully demonstrated to save our handguns but we were beaten by a Liberal /Socialist tabloid press. All because of firearms registration

    Happy days

    Jack
