    First Hog

My buddy set up a hog hunt for us in a swamp near Chesterfield, SC. Getting dark fast the first day, and in the box blind I barely saw a light-colored hog step out near the feeder. Yes, you could call this more of a shoot than a hunt! Well this was also the virgin voyage for my lightweight 308 rifle using 125gr Sierra Pro Hunters. Our guide told us to shoot below the ear to drop them on the spot because you could not track them in the swamp, and that's what the Pro Hunter did at 90 yards. The hydro-static shock blew out the near-side eye ball too, left hanging by a thread. First day 3/5 guys scored, but nothing else the following two days. Great company in camp with three active Army guys over from Ft Bragg, and Pops cooked great meals too. Cooked up some fresh sausage after I got home and butchered the boar, and the wife loved it. I would post a pic but he just looks like a 125lb farm critter, nothing special. Might have to try this again next year.
