its not a model 16. It is a model 12 and was originally a varmint caliber rifle.
They aren't odd at all, but have become hard to find for sale.
Nice actions, aren't they?.......
Hey guys,
How rare or odd are the pre-Target Action single shots? or at least this one?
This one is a Round Rear, Accu-trigger, 4.27" Spaced, Stainless single shot action. I have seen plenty of the older 112S actions in blue and a couple stainless, and I have heard of 4.27" single shots in blued steel with flat rear, but have not ever run into a stainless round rear 4.27" single shot.
Just figured I'd bounce it off y'all.

Duh. Model 12, I'm an idiot. I saw SS and my mind went straight to 16.
Yeah it sure seems to be a good one. Accu-trigger breaks clean and is the lightest one I've ever felt.
Picked it up at an auction this morning. Local Bench-rester's estate sale. I found it wearing a near new 6BR barrel and a Stockade Long-Range Benchrest Stock.
I got lucky and had a chance to talk with him before the sale and get all the specs on his guns and such. He is having to go into a nursing home permanently, too bad, I know having to give up shooting is going dampen his spirits. He spent his retirement working in my favorite LGS and I always enjoyed our lil chats as he was a Savage lover as well.
